Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center Internship Program

Welcome to the Dr. Edwin Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center (ELC) Internship Program website. This website provides information for startups and small businesses interested in posting internship opportunities available to West Chester University students and for West Chester University students interested in interning with a small or startup business.

The Dr. Edwin Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center in the College of Business and Public Affairs at West Chester University matches startups and small businesses seeking the assistance of a junior- or senior level West Chester University student intern. Pennsylvania based startups and small businesses that are revenue generating are eligible to request an intern, and pre-revenue startups with equity funding are also eligible to request an intern. The Cottrell Center pays ELC interns for 180 hours of internship work up to a total of $2700.

Exposure to real-world startups and small businesses is a valuable experience for students. It expands students' view of entrepreneurship from an abstract concept to a real-world experience, and for many it triggers their entrepreneurial spirit. Student interns gain practical professional experience and earn college credit through the Cottrell ELC's paid internship program. For startups and small businesses the program covers the cost of interns, a cost which such businesses might otherwise not be able to afford.
